First StartCom Linux Installation Party
 
Eilat, Israel, February 16, 2005 - StartCom announces first StartCom Installation Part and Meeting scheduled for the 23. of February 2005 at the Campus - Ben Gurion University in Eilat, Israel.
 
- StartCom Ltd. retained a low profile since it's initial releases of a series of StartCom Linux operating systems last year, and this despite the vast interest from the Internet community and relentless downloads of it's distributions. But at the 23. February StartCom will meet the public in it's home-town for the first time:
 
- Anybody who wishes to install a StartCom Linux system on their PC's, is invited to bring his/her computer to the Campus in Eilat between the hours 10:00 mornings and 20:00 evenings at the 23. of February. The Installation Party will be held in the beauteful lobby next to the restaurant at the Campus.
 
- The event is organized by StartCom and sponsored by the Campus - a branch of the Ben Gurion University of Be'er Sheva which provides the locality and computer equipment.
 
- All installations will be performed free of charge! Choices are the StartCom Enterprise Linux AS-3.0.1 (Server) and StartCom MultiMedia Edition ML-3.0.3 (Home). Installation time may vary between one to three hours, depending on the state of the computer. If you have already a operating system and wish to keep it, than a dual-boot installation will be performed, which lets you choose which OS to start at boot time.
 
- If you happen to be vacationing in Eilat, than take the oppertunity to meet StartCom staff and volunteers at the premise.
 
Minimum requirements for PC's are:
  • x86 based CPU 450 Mhz (Intel or AMD)
  • 128 MB RAM
  • 5 GB of free space on harddisk
  • Floppy drive (3 1/2 ")
  • CD ROM x 12
Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and other appliances are not needed. (Bring only the box with you)
Some hardware components, such as harddrives, CD ROMs will be sold at the event, in case you need anything.
Installation CD ROM's will be sold seperate at the event and is optional.
